Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is CBD E-Liquid?

It’s a mixture of CBD oil (extracted from the hemp plant) and a number of other ingredients. These include flavourings as well as common food additives such as propylene glycol or vegetable glycerine, which are responsible for producing the trademark vapour clouds.
  • How is CBD e-liquid bioavailability?

Multiple scientific studies have found the bioavailability of inhaled CBD to be quite potent compared to other delivery methods. Not only do you feel the effects more rapidly—often in a manner of seconds—but more of the CBD makes it into your bloodstream, so you feel those effects more acutely as well.
  • Does CBD e-liquid contain nicotine?

At The Hemp Company, we only carry CBD e-liquids that are certified to be nicotine-free. Whilst it’s technically possible to make a CBD e-liquid with nicotine, most brands prefer to avoid this since many people vape CBD as an alternative to smoking cigarettes.
  • Will CBD e-liquid get you high?

No, CBD e-liquid won’t get you high. That’s because it contains extremely low levels of THC (or in some cases, none at all). THC is the compound responsible for cannabis’ intoxicating effects, and it affects a different type of brain receptor than CBD.
  • Is CBD e-liquid legal?

Yes, though there are a few stipulations. First, under UK law you must be at least 18 years old to purchase or use any type of vape product—which includes CBD e-liquid. Second, in order to be legal in the UK, CBD e-liquid must contain a maximum level of 0.2 percent THC (the compound in cannabis that causes a high). The Hemp Company only carries CBD e-liquids that have test results proving they’ve met this requirement, and we do not sell CBD e-liquid to anyone under the age of 18.
  • Is CBD e-liquid safe?

CBD itself is widely recognised by experts for its positive safety profile—the World Health Organisation (WHO), for example, states that CBD has no potential for addiction or abuse. And whilst few experts would encourage non-vapers to start vaping, respected institutions like the National Health Service (NHS) have promoted studies that show vaping is healthier than smoking. Having said that, some counterfeit or poorly-made CBD e-liquids have been known to contain harmful contaminants, which is why The Hemp Company only carries CBD e-liquids from reputable brands that test their products for purity.
  • Will CBD e-liquid make you fail a drug test?

Using CBD e-liquid should not, in principle, cause you to test positive on a drug test. This is because drug tests for cannabis are not designed to detect the presence of CBD, but a different chemical entirely—THC (more specifically, certain derivatives of THC that are created when the compound is processed by your body). However, some outdated drug tests have proven incapable of differentiating between THC and CBD. Newer tests are being developed, and are expected to replace these outdated tests before long, but some people have already gotten ‘false positives’ on drug tests due to using CBD. It’s unlikely, but it’s worth keeping in mind.
  • What types of CBD e-liquid exist?

CBD e-liquids come in an enormous variety of potencies, concentrations, and flavours. Some CBD e-liquids are known as ‘full spectrum’ because they contain the full range of compounds found in the hemp plant, whilst ‘CBD isolate’ e-liquids are processed to remove those compounds and leave only CBD behind. A container of CBD e-liquid might contain anywhere from 50 mg to over 200 mg of CBD, depending on its size. In terms of taste, you can find CBD e-liquids that are flavoured like everything from mint, orange, and strawberry to various famous types of hemp.
  • What’s the best CBD e-liquid?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as the best CBD e-liquid for you will depend on a number of personal preferences. Some useful questions to ask yourself are, ‘what kind of flavour do I want?’, ‘do I mind if my CBD e-liquid contains tiny traces of THC?’, and ‘what’s my monthly budget for CBD?’ However, no matter how you respond to those questions, you should always choose CBD e-liquids from respectable companies with a demonstrated commitment to quality and customer service. Fortunately, those are the only types of CBD e-liquid we carry at The Hemp Company, so you can focus on finding the one that ticks your other boxes.
